Our approach
Our sustainability strategy is aligned under three pillars – People, Products and Planet.
Governance
Our governance framework is built on a foundation of accountability and responsibility, led by our dedicated Corporate Sustainability Committee. The Committee, comprised of senior leadership across various departments, plays a vital role in embedding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our core business strategies. The Board provides strategic oversight, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and stakeholder expectations. Through monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement, we drive impactful sustainability efforts with integrity.
Integration
Integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into our operations is at the core of Aviso’s corporate sustainability strategy. We have developed robust policies, including our Environment Policy, Sustainability Disclosures Policy, Human Rights, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Policy, to complement our other corporate policies. These policies are embedded across every layer of business and guide us in fostering practices that are ethical, responsible, and future-focused. Materiality assessments and a risk management framework that includes Corporate Sustainability risks help us address key issues and leverage opportunities for sustainable growth.

Responsibility
Climate Impact
We consider climate a material topic that presents both risks and opportunities, subject to board monitoring and oversight. Climate risks are integrated into Aviso’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework. At the enterprise level, Aviso has set science-based targets, that align with global efforts to limit warming. NEI’s climate strategy is intended to align our assets under management with the global goal of keeping the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2C above pre-industrial levels, in line with the Paris Agreement, and to reach net-zero global greenhouse gas emissions.

Reconciliation
We are committed to advancing meaningful steps toward Truth and Reconciliation. Aviso has articulated this commitment through a Reconciliation Ambition and Commitment Statement and an Indigenous Relations Policy - laying the foundation for continued learning and action. Aviso also developed an internal Truth and Reconciliation Roadmap which outlines the next steps in our journey towards actioning this commitment, as we look to open and build trust-based relationships with Indigenous Communities, Peoples, and partners.

Responsible Procurement
Aviso’s Responsible Procurement Program underscores our commitment to further embed environmental and social considerations into our procurement practices and cultivating a sustainable supply chain. Our Supplier Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for suppliers regarding health and safety, environmental responsibility, fair treatment and human rights, fair business practices, and diversity and inclusion. We also include sustainability criteria into RFPs, ensuring that Environmental, Social, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) considerations are integrated into procurement decision-making alongside traditional criteria.

NEI has a long-standing commitment to responsible investing, which incorporates financial and non-financial analysis of company performance into the investment decision-making process. This approach supports the growth of long-term sustainable value for investors and other stakeholders. NEI engages with companies in our portfolio to help them become more resilient over the long term.
